Improving railways – investments & efficiency How to accomplish more with less money?
It is evident that the economic crisis has had its effect on the world economy as well as individual countries. Most economies are now stabilizing or a slight economic growth is noticeable. At the same time the EU as well as individual member states have indicated that governmental budgets should be tightened. This is resulting in a decrease of government expenditure on rail projects in many European countries. Additional governmental funds to improve the system are likely to be limited to a minimum.
On track to a sustainable future stimulating more environmentally friendly modes of transportation and with an expected growth in passenger and freight transportation, there is a great need to improve the railway system.
This calls for action! Therefore Rail-Tech Europe addressed the following themes: ● introducing inventive financing structures ● accelerating decision-taking processes ● increasing operational efficiency ● improving overall performance of the system ● balancing interests – optimising infra and operations
The conference will be held concurrently with the Rail-Tech Europe exhibition. |
