During this webinar on Climate Change Adaptation we were joined by Katrin Neuhaus, Auke Blokland and Bart Kamoen. What is the impact of climate change on rail and what needs to happen to make rail infrastructure resilient for the future? Katrin Neuhaus, Project Manager for Climate Change Adaptation at Swiss Railways SBB talked about how they are adapting to climate change and how impact can be measured. What are the latest implementations of the Swiss Railways? Auke Blokland, Earth Observation Specialist at CGI talked about how satellite data can be of use in making rail infrastructure more resilient? And he talked about possibilities, such as mapping floods, subsidence and vegetation along the tracks. Furthermore Bart Kamoen from Infrabel closed with a presentation about “the impact of the flooding in Belgium of July 2021".
